Vintage Wheeling Decorating Co. gold rimmed dinner plate is made of white porcelain and features a 2-inch wide etched gold border. The etching displays a floral design, with narrow foliate garlands at both the inner and outer rims, along with stylized asters or carnations and ferns. Additionally, fine arabesque scrolls are interspersed between the floral elements. The back has the Wheeling Decorating Co.'s diamond-shaped logo, which reads "WHEELING DECORATING CO W VA." Along with gold trimming on the back.
The Wheeling Decorating Company operated in Wheeling, West Virginia, from 1900 to 1962. They purchased blank glass and china pieces from around 300 companies worldwide, including Fostoria, Fenton, Cambridge, Homer Laughlin, and Lenox. The company was known for its elaborate gold decorations, as well as etched and embossed designs. Their patterns often featured intricate, lacy designs, frequently incorporating bird and floral elements.
